How do you load the devices? - Simply install the device into an open USB port on
your computer, and fill in the labeled fields when the form appears. Then click
SAVE to write the information to the device.
How can an EMT read the device? - laptop computers are standard issue equipment
in most Police, Ambulance, and Fire Rescue vehicles. Once they discover the device on
your person, they insert it into their USB port and have access to all of your critical
medical information.
Does iD require special software? - No, the iD form and software program reside
on the iD device. When inserted into a USB port, the program is auto-loaded when using
any Windows operating system computer.
What about identity theft? - iD contains no more information than that printed in
a phone book (name, address, phone number) There are no social security, driver's license,
or credit card numbers listed on the device. In addition, all information is voluntarily
entered by the owner, so if you find certain information to be sensitive, you can choose
not to include it. Lastly, since Identification Devices LLC has no access to your
information, complete privacy is maintained.
Can I update the device as my information changes? - Yes, by re-inserting the device
into your computer port, you can click on any field and update the information. The devices
even include a password feature to protect the information from being accidentally over-written
(password not needed to read the device).
I'm taking a lot of medications, how small are the fields for holding data? - Fields such
as medications, medical history, and others can be expanded by double-clicking on the blank
space. When doing so, a full-sized empty page opens for entering detailed information.
