According to the National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children an average of 2,185 children are reported missing every day in
the United States. The U.S. Department of Justice recorded 797,500 such reports for the last
year studied. A large percentage of that alarming number are due to poor child identification
techniques utilized by parents. Relying on a child's memory to recall vital information simply
isn't enough, and that method is useless if the child is unable to respond. iD can be easily
attached to a child's backpack, beltloop, zipper-pull, or tied into their shoelaces to provide
immediate information when needed.
